    I had this issue and the fix was weird but easy. Unplug everything as you said. Take the power cord and the power box/adapter whatever you want to call it to a GFI plug in your house. These are the plugs that have the black and red buttons. Plug it into the GFI outlet and trip the outlet by testing it. Reset the GFI outlet and the power adapter gets reset. It should work properly now when you plug it back into your Wii.
